Job Highlights & Tips:

  • We had to build one end of the base up almost 2 feet. Compact in 4 inch layers to get a solid foundation. A solid foundation is key to a good installation.
  • Selling the spouse on the idea of additional landscaping or hardscaping around the green allows the golfer to get the green he wants.

Sod Squad Tips:

  • Using a ride-on roller instead of plate compactor saved 4 hours.
  • Charge for every square foot even though you trim the turf to give it shape.
  • When installing a green with a fringe figure it will take an extra day for the fringe. Adding a fringe is not difficult, it just takes time.
  • This green took up 1/3 of the customer’s backyard. We have never had a customer say the green is too big.
